What is Free Baseball?

It’s a not-quite-daily newsletter that dives into all things baseball. Yesterday’s highlights, interesting articles and storylines, historical deep dives, baseball movie reviews, and more.

Why Free Baseball?

Baseball is filled with statistics and phrases, but the primary terms used seem never to be enough. Homers can be dingers, fastballs are heat, diving grabs are web gems, closing out a game is shutting the door.

One of my favorite examples of this, though, is using the phrase “free baseball” to describe extra innings; that little treat* at the end of a game you never expected.

* It’s most assuredly NOT a treat if you only reach extra innings because your team coughed up a late lead, though.

Who Am I?

My name is Jeff Tracy. I live in Brooklyn with my wife and dog (whose name is, yes, Griffey), and I’m a diehard Washington Nationals fan. I promise I will do my best to keep that bias out of the newsletter, but I also promise that I will, at times, still fail in that endeavor.
